As soon as the news of his passing became public, fellow artists and celebrities went to social media to express their condolences to his family and friends.
After the health of the famed comic began to deteriorate, the air ambulance was forced to land in Germany. Germany had granted the emergency landing permission on humanitarian grounds and granted the comic king and his spouse a 15-day visa extension.
Sharif was taken to a hospital in Berlin, where he died today after a brief illness. The death of Umer Sharif was verified by his wife.
