Court Issued Arrest Warrant of Bangladeshi Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan

Bangladesh’s cricket star, Shakib Al Hasan, is facing legal trouble after a Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against him in a dishonoured cheque case involving IFIC Bank.

The 37-year-old cricketer has been living abroad since August 2024 and did not appear in court for a hearing related to the case filed on December 15, 2024.

The case involves Shakib and three others who are accused of failing to repay a debt of BDT 41.4 million (approximately 4.14 crore taka). The payment was supposed to be made through two cheques issued by his company, Al Hasan Agro Farm Ltd. However, both cheques were returned due to insufficient funds in the account.

IFIC Bank had provided loans to Al Hasan Agro Farm Ltd., and the dishonoured cheques have led to the current legal proceedings. Shakib’s failure to appear in court has now added to his troubles, resulting in the court issuing the arrest warrant.

This legal issue puts the renowned cricketer in a challenging situation, as he remains outside Bangladesh amidst the ongoing case. Shakib’s absence from the country and his involvement in financial disputes have raised concerns about his legal and professional future.

The case continues to unfold, and it remains to be seen how Shakib and his legal team will address the allegations and work towards resolving the matter.
