A private Chinese commercial rocket developer, Beijing Sepoch Technology Co., is delving into the realm of reusable rocket technology for expedited delivery services through a collaborative research endeavor with Alibaba’s Taobao e-commerce platform.
The maiden trial for cargo retrieval from a rocket is scheduled for this year. If proven successful, this pioneering initiative has the potential to facilitate intercontinental delivery of e-commerce packages in less than an hour, leveraging the capabilities of the reusable Sepoch Hiker-1 orbital rocket, as shared by project stakeholders.
Taobao said on its WeChat account that “Many great endeavors , at first glance, seem laughable”, denying the rocket package delivery plan is a publicity stunt.
