Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said another breakthrough in Turkey-Pakistan defence relations is the defence partnership for the building of warships.
Erdogan said Pakistan is our fraternal country with which Turkey enjoys excellent ties, addressing the launch of the practical work on the third ship to be designed for the Pakistan Navy in Istanbul.
Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey, also accompanied the Turkish President at the groundbreaking ceremony of the third of the four corvettes for the Pakistan Navy.
He said Pakistan and Turkey both live in demanding regions and face similar challenges.
The Turkish President stressed that Turkey will continue to provide security assistance to friendly and allied countries.
President Erdogan, referring to his visit to Pakistan last year, said that the two countries had signed a Strategic Economic Agreement that would provide the institutional framework required to further strengthen bilateral relations.
