Facebook Will Now Allow Pro-Taliban Content

Because it considers the Taliban a terrorist organization, Facebook has affirmed that it would continue to remove Taliban content from its services.

The company has a dedicated staff of Afghan professionals monitoring and removing content associated with the group. The Taliban has been using social media to communicate their propaganda for years.

Its quick conquest of Afghanistan poses new hurdles for technology companies regarding how to handle content related to the group. For many years, Facebook has classified the Taliban as a hazardous organization.

According to a Facebook representative, the Taliban is designated as a terrorist organization under US law, and they have been barred from using Facebook’s services under our Dangerous Organization policy. This means we block accounts run by or on behalf of the Taliban and praise, support, and representation of the Taliban.
