Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is the Last Founder-CEO in Tech Giant as Jeff Bezos steps back

When Jeff Bezos of Amazon steps down as CEO later this year, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook will be the last founding CEO left at any of the major tech firms.

As Steve Jobs grew sicker from the pancreatic cancer that would eventually kill him, Apple moved from founder Steve Jobs to Tim Cook in 2011. In 2014, when early employee Steve Ballmer retired from the position and founder Bill Gates quit his post as chairman of the board, Microsoft made its transition to CEO Satya Nadella.

In 2019, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, moved from co-founder Larry Page to Sundar Pichai. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, got in early and oversaw the business through almost all of its significant product creation and growth, but he was not there in 2003 at the very beginning.

Amazon is now switching from founder Bezos to Andy Jassy, a long-time employee of Amazon who set up AWS, the cloud storage business of the company.

Since co-founding the firm in 2004, Zuckerberg has been at the helm of Facebook without interruption. He is the last one of its kind.
