Government of Punjab Signs Agreement to Construct Small and Intermediate Dams

The Punjab government signed an agreement to construct small and intermediate dams in the province in an effort to use water resources in an effective way.

As per details, in a ceremony attended by CM Punjab Usman Buzdar, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the provincial Irrigation Ministry and NESPAK.

Under the MoU, a feasibility analysis for the construction of small and intermediate dams at 13 hill torrents will be carried out using advanced drone techniques.

CM Punjab Usman Buzdar, shedding light on the project, said that the pilot project to build the reservoirs will begin in June this year.

“In addition to minimizing the impact and loss of floods, water reservoirs will assist in providing water to 200,000 acres of land,” he said.

It is important to mention here that small and large dams were designed and built in other parts of the country other than Punjab, to ensure better use of water resources.
