FIA Arrests Police Officer for Accepting $2,000 Bribe

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) for taking a $2,000 bribe to clear the crew of a foreign ship docked at Port Qasim. Efforts are also underway to apprehend a Head Constable involved in the same case.

According to the FIA, Qasim Attaullah Mehmood, the former in-charge of Port Qasim Immigration, abused his authority by declaring the entry of eight foreign technicians as illegal. Instead of following standard immigration procedures, he pressured the ship’s captain and agent, demanding a bribe to approve their clearance.

Initially, Mehmood demanded $4,000 but later settled for $2,000. This bribe was taken despite the fact that technicians are usually permitted to board foreign vessels for work without such complications under normal immigration rules.

The FIA has taken strict action against Mehmood for exploiting his position for personal gain. Investigations are ongoing, and raids are being conducted to bring all individuals involved in this corruption case to justice.

This incident highlights the FIA’s commitment to tackling corruption and ensuring accountability in government institutions. Further updates on the case and arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
