An Iranian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, an Iranian political figure, arrived in Islamabad late Friday night amid heightened diplomatic activity in the region. Upon arrival, the delegation was formally received at the airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, as well as other senior civil and military officials.
The visit comes at a time of increased diplomatic engagement and behind-the-scenes coordination involving multiple regional and international stakeholders. According to earlier reports, the visiting delegation was expected to include a smaller, focused negotiating team accompanying the Iranian foreign minister to facilitate discussions during the trip.
Sources further suggested that preparations were also underway for a potential second round of US-Iran peace talks, indicating continued efforts toward diplomatic dialogue. A US logistics and security team has reportedly already been stationed in the federal capital in connection with the expected high-level engagements, underscoring the sensitivity and complexity of the ongoing diplomatic process.
The meetings in Islamabad are seen as part of broader efforts to maintain communication channels and explore possible avenues for de-escalation and negotiation between the involved parties, although official confirmation of the full agenda remains limited.
