With a Sri Lankan background, Faizal was born and raised in Florida, United States. Her parents are both refugees from Sri Lanka. Faizal considers novelists Leigh Bardugo, Roshani Chokshi, and Renée Ahdieh as some of her greatest literary influences from the start of her career at 17. She also names Kristin Cashore’s Graceling as the book that made her fall in love with reading.
The founder of IceyDesigns, a company that creates websites for Authors, is Faizal. It also has candles, notebooks, journals and more in their products that are book-inspired.
