First Digital Policy of Balochistan Approved

The cabinet of Balochistan has approved the province’s first digital strategy. The objectives of the 2020-21 strategy are to include e-governance, public access to digital services, provision of inexpensive, standard and high-speed internet facilities, in addition to supporting the province’s ICT companies through digital capabilities, digital economy, software and IT parks.

A state-of-the-art centralized data centre will be built by the government.

A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani also approved a bill to amend the rules framed under the Balochistan Tourist Guides Act, 2014, the Balochistan Vaccination Ordinance, 1958, and the 2021 draught bill with some modifications to the Balochistan Education Council.

The meeting agreed to formulate a strategy to protect and improve cattle breeding, avoid infectious diseases in cattle and pave the way for the development of poultry in the province.

In Kalat, the cabinet has authorized funds to improve security measures.

A project to enhance and rehabilitate Lakhra to Kanki Bridge Awaran Road was also authorized.

In order to compensate the victims of the August 13, 2020 earthquake in Basima and Koregi, two Union Councils of Washuk District, the cabinet approved Rs111,800 million.

Draft Amendments to Public-Private Partnership Law, Balochistan Government Employees Benevolent Fund (Disbursement) Rules, Amendment to Balochistan Civil Servant (Appointment, Promotion and Transfer) Rules, 2009, Amendment to Balochistan Government Company Rules, 2012, and Balochistan Public Procurement Rules, 2014 have been approved by the cabinet.
