First flight from Russia with flood relief goods lands in Pakistan

The first humanitarian assistance flight for flood-affected Pakistanis has arrived from Russia. Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the SCO summit. Kremlin sent the flood relief goods days after Pakistani prime minister visited.

The Flood relief items include flood items, tents and water cleaning devices. The Russian Consul General in Karachi, Fedorov Andrey, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Relief and Rehabilitation, Rasool Bux Chandio, and representatives of NDMA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the flight.

Pakistan has received more than a hundred flood relief assistance flights, with 55 of them from the United Arab Emirates. Foreign countries joined Pakistan’s flood response as the death toll from the massive deluge soared above 1,500.Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of people displaced by the floods are living in the open. Most of those who lost their homes are now living in tents on the banks of overflowing canals and rivers. The floodwater they may drink is contaminated.

Russia is ready to supply wheat amid rising food shortages

Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif revealed said that in addition to gas, Russia is ready to offer wheat to Pakistan due to the projection of food shortage in the country on the back of devastating floods in the country.
