France Records Its Hottest Day Ever As Temperatures Hit 40°C

France has experienced its hottest day on record as a powerful heatwave grips much of western Europe. On Tuesday, the country’s national average temperature reached 29.8°C, breaking the previous record. Local temperatures climbed above 40°C in several areas, with some places hitting 44.3°C.

The intense heat has caused major problems across France, Spain, and Italy. Authorities issued red alerts in many regions. Schools closed early, tourist spots like the Eiffel Tower limited hours, and transport services faced delays. Power outages hit some cities due to high demand for cooling.

Sadly, at least 40 people have drowned while trying to cool off in rivers and lakes. Wildfire risks have increased, and hospitals are under pressure. Meteorologists blame a strong “heat dome” for trapping hot air over the region. Climate experts say such extreme events are becoming more common due to global warming.

Governments are urging people to stay indoors, drink water, and check on elderly family members. Farmers worry about crops, while cities struggle with the heat. Similar high temperatures are expected in coming days as the heatwave moves across Europe.
