A spirited ceremony was held at Masjid al-Haram to change the cover of the Kaaba. There are also 54 golden verses on the black cover of the Kaaba.
The cover of the Kaaba was brought from King Abdulaziz Complex to Baitullah Sharif by special trucks and the authorities of the Kiswah factory handed over the cover of the Kaaba to Al-Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sadis, the head of the administrative affairs of Haramin Sharif, while the ceremony of the replacement of the cover of the Kaaba began after the Isha prayer.
Skilled artisans of the Kiswah factory participated in the changing of the cover of the Kaaba while thousands of Umrah pilgrims and worshipers participated in the spirited ceremony. Diplomatic officers from other countries, including Pakistan, were present to witness the Kaaba covering ceremony.
According to the management of the Kiswah factory, the Kaaba cover consists of 16 pieces in total and the length of the Kiswah is 50 feet and the width is 35 to 40 feet. The weight of the Kaaba cover is 850 kg and it costs 25 million Rials to make.
The Kaaba changing ceremony will continue till dawn. About 700 kg of pure silk, 300 kg of cotton, 120 kg of gold, and 100 kg of silver threads have been used in the covering of Kaaba.
