Karachi residents seeking driving licenses no longer need to visit a licensing office, as the city has introduced a mobile van service to bring the facility directly to local neighborhoods. The Driving License Mobile Van, which began operating last week, aims to provide on-the-go service and ease the process for citizens across the city.
Currently stationed at Pakistan Chowk, the mobile unit offers services comparable to those found at the central licensing offices, making it especially convenient for those unfamiliar with online processes. DIG Driving License Iqbal Darar shared that the mobile van travels to different points each week, following a set schedule to serve as many people as possible.
Through this mobile service, applicants can pay their fees and receive necessary documentation on-site. After completing the required steps, applicants can collect their final licenses at any branch after 42 days.
The mobile unit is equipped to process fees, print receipts, and handle applications, all in one location. For added convenience, both government and private institutions can request the mobile van to visit their offices, ensuring that employees have easy access to license services.
The service is intended to simplify the licensing process, especially for those who may not be familiar with online application systems. The initiative marks a significant step towards making public services more accessible in Karachi and reflects a commitment to using mobile technology to meet the needs of the city’s residents.
