Similar to what Safari and Firefox have already done, Google is making an official change to the way things work by barring third-party cookies in its web browser.
According to Google, one of these is FLOC (Federated Learning of Cohorts). This new framework allows users to be semi-anonymous by linking them with a “cohort,” a group of users large enough to render people invisible to corporations targeting them.
To create these cohorts, the Chrome browser will apply a series of algorithms based on the attributes and wants of the users.
However, each user’s browsing history will be kept private and will not be shared with other users, though the browser will utilize the history to assign these cohorts.
