Google’s AI will Now Tell Cities How to Cut Their Annoying Traffic Light Timings

Google has revealed that its AI-powered system, Project Green Light, is making a positive impact on traffic flow in several major global cities. This project, initially introduced in 2021, has since expanded to 12 cities with the goal of reducing fuel consumption and air pollution caused by vehicles.

Yossi Matias from Google provided an update on the project’s success. Project Green Light is being tested in areas with significant traffic problems, primarily at busy intersections with complex traffic lights where vehicles frequently stop and start. These intersections can cause traffic congestion and pollution.

Cities like Bangalore, Budapest, Jakarta, Manchester, Haifa, Hamburg, Rio de Janeiro, and Seattle are currently participating in the program to address traffic-related challenges and create more efficient transportation systems.
