Government Announced Public Holiday on Feb 5

In a show of solidarity with the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistani government has designated February 5th as a national holiday and announced a nationwide minute of silence at 10 am.

This annual event, recognized as Kashmir Solidarity Day, stands as a poignant reminder of the persistent struggle for self-determination in the contested region.

The Cabinet Division has issued a public holiday notification, emphasizing Pakistan’s unwavering backing for the Kashmiris’ right to freedom and self-determination, as articulated in the UN Charter. This day carries profound significance for millions of Pakistanis who share historical, cultural, and familial bonds with their Kashmiri counterparts.

According to the notification, a moment of silence will be observed at 10 am to pay tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir and reaffirm Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri cause.
