Govt Eyes $3bln From Freelancing IT Exports By 2024

Freelancers play an essential part in Pakistan’s IT industry, and steps are being done to address their concerns as soon as possible, according to Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Syed Aminul Haque.

He claimed his government set a target of $3 billion in export remittance inflows for Pakistani freelancers over the next three years, speaking at the National Freelancing Conference 2021.

“Connectivity is critical for freelancers, and the Ministry of Information Technology is taking every step feasible to provide broadband services in unserved and underserved areas of the country,” he said.

Dr. Sohail Rajput, the IT Secretary, noted that the sector plays an essential part in a country’s economic development, and that the National Freelancing Facilitation Policy (NFFP) was designed to help freelancers.
