Govt to Establish Worth Rs. 2.5 Billion Center of Excellence in Gaming and Animation (CEGA) at NED University

According to Syed Aminul Haque, minister of information technology and telecommunications, the government will invest Rs. 2.5 billion to open the Center of Excellence in Gaming and Animation (CEGA) and Pakistan’s first contemporary virtual production studio at NED University in Karachi.

On Saturday, he described the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT) and NED University as the first significant step Pakistan had taken to expand its modest gaming and animation market.

According to Syed Aminul Haque, minister of information technology and telecommunications, it will be functional in the next six months. Presently, Pakistan’s share is $50 million, which is very small considering the country’s large population and potential.

According to Haque, the creation of CEGA demonstrates the government’s commitment to fostering Pakistan’s creative and technological industries’ expansion.

According to MoITT and Ignite National Technology Fund, Pakistan has a lot of potentials to meet the supply and demand sides of the animation and gaming industries.

It is believed that this project will give Pakistani youth the tools and platform they need to contribute to the video game and animation industries while also boosting the national economy.
