To raise the calibre of the services provided to tourists, training will soon become a requirement for obtaining any licence related to tourism in Pakistan.
MD According to Aftab ur Rehman Rana of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), the government is strengthening the licencing system as a result of the unchecked rise of amateur and unqualified tour operators and guides that is damaging the country’s reputation.
The official explained that the National Minimum Standards (NMS) for Tourism and Hospitality have been prepared after discussing all of the major stakeholders in the industry and will be implemented throughout Pakistan.
