Although the Toyota Fortuner has long dominated Pakistan’s midsize SUV market, the Kia Sorento has recently entered the fray to challenge Toyota for a greater share of the market. The Hyundai Santa Fe, on the other hand, is a midsize SUV that receives little attention.
Hyundai’s response to the Kia Sorento and Toyota Fortuner is the Santa Fe, a mid-size 7-seat crossover SUV. In Pakistan, there is only one trim level — the GLS. It comes with a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 170 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque and is sent to all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic HTRAC transmission.
However, Hyundai Nishat has lowered the price of the Santa Fe by Rs. 5 million, taking it down to Rs. 13.5 million, as reported by several media outlets yesterday. According to the reports, Hyundai Nishat imported 30 SUVs for testing purposes in 2019, but has not said anything since then.
