Elon Musk, a very rich person from America, recently said he’s really interested in learning about a guy named Ibn Battuta. This Ibn Battuta was from Morocco and he traveled to lots of places. Elon Musk talked about this on a website called “X” and he recommended a podcast called “The Explorers.”
Ibn Battuta was born a long time ago, in 1304. He was really smart and he liked to travel. For around 30 years, he went to many different places like North Africa, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, China, and more. He wrote about his travels in a book called “A Gift to Those Who Contemplate the Wonders of Cities and the Marvels of Traveling,” but people usually call it “The Rihla.”
Ibn Battuta’s travels were very special because he went really far – about 117,000 kilometers! This was much more than other famous travelers like Zheng He and Marco Polo, who went around 50,000 and 24,000 kilometers.
