ICC Suspends Sri Lanka Cricket Board

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) due to too much government involvement in its administration. Although called a “suspension,” it’s more of a warning to stop further interference.

This won’t immediately affect Sri Lankan cricket, as there are no games until December, and no ICC funds are due until January.

The ICC board discussed the situation online and will decide on the next steps during their in-person meeting on November 21. Sri Lanka Cricket might have anticipated this move, as it’s believed they requested the ICC to take such action.
