Malik Amin Aslam, Prime Minister’s specialist assistant (SAPM) on climate change remarked that the area covered by mangroves has grown in the country by 300% since 1990, as the capped area has increased from 477 km2 to 1463 km.
Pakistan has been the only country in the world that produces huge mangroves in a video message.
He added that “95% of the country’s mangrove woodland was in the Sindh Indus delta.
He said the government of Sindh has played an essential role in the country’s increase in mangroves in partnership with international organizations.
Under the ten Billion Tree Tsunami Project, the federal government plants one trillion mangroves.
