Indian cricket team set a new record in ODI cricket. India set a world record by winning by the largest margin in terms of runs in the last match of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
The Indian team defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs in the third ODI, which is the biggest victory by any team in an ODI. Batting first against Sri Lanka, India scored 390 runs for the loss of five wickets; Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 166; and Shubman Gill scored 116.
Chasing a target of 391 runs, the Sri Lankan team was bowled out for just 73 runs, and India won the series by three to nil against Sri Lanka. Earlier in 2008, New Zealand beat Ireland by 290 runs to set the record for the biggest ODI margin.
