Indian Government Reportedly Considering Changing Country’s Official Name to “Bharat”

Indian media have claimed that during a special session of Parliament, the Indian government is considering officially changing the country’s name to “Bharat.”

Media sources state that Rashtrapati Bhawan (President House) invited the “President of Bharat” instead of the “President of India” to a G20 luncheon on September 9. This has fueled rumors that the government is planning a coup in India.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, chief minister of Assam, also saying, “Republic of Bharat – happy and proud that our civilisation is marching ahead boldly towards Amrit Kaal.”

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat backed the move as well. Bhagwat had previously advocated for the use of the term “Bharat” in place of “India,” on the grounds that this was the name under which the country had been known historically.

It’s worth noting that Modi, the prime minister of India, has expressed views very similar to these.
