Inzamam-ul-Haq Explains Hasan Ali’s Inclusion in Pakistan’s World Cup Squad

Pakistan’s chief selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq, explained why they chose to include Hasan Ali in the national men’s squad for the ICC World Cup 2023.

Hasan Ali is stepping in for the injured Naseem Shah, who hurt his shoulder during the Asia Cup 2023 and will be sidelined for a long time. Inzamam mentioned that due to injuries, they had limited options among fast bowlers, with Naseem Shah, Hasnain, and Ihsanullah all unavailable.

Hasan Ali’s recent strong performances in tournaments like the LPL, his experience, and his previous success in big events for Pakistan made him a suitable choice.

Inzamam also highlighted Hasan Ali’s ability to bowl effectively with both new and old balls and praised his team spirit and energy. Hasan Ali’s last ODI match for Pakistan was in 2022 against West Indies in Multan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced the men’s squad for the ICC World Cup, with Babar Azam leading the team. Compared to the Asia Cup 2023 squad, two changes were made: all-rounder Faheem Ashraf was left out, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris was moved to the reserves.
