The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has made improvements to its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to better address issues of dual registration and misidentification.
As part of the upgrade, NADRA has introduced the IRIS system, which uses eye biometric authentication technology along with facial and fingerprint recognition as the third identification method.
The IRIS system is currently being tested in major centers such as Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi.
NADRA has stated that implementing this advanced system will prevent identity theft and ensure the ongoing protection of individuals’ identities. By eliminating cases of double registration and reducing the risk of misidentification, people can have more confidence in the security and accuracy of their personal information.
