Ishaq Dar to replace Miftah Ismail as new Finance Minister of Pakistan

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has stepped down from his post as senior PML-N leader Ishaq Dar is all set to become the country’s new finance minister. The development came on Sunday after an important PML-N meeting was held under the chairmanship of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in London.

In the meeting, a discussion about the overall political situation of the country held in detail. Miftah submitted his resignation to the PML-N supreme leader, saying the part entrusted him the ministry. “I worked to the best of my ability for four months, and remained loyal to the party and the country,” a PML-N statement quoted Miftah as saying during the meeting.

While accepting his resignation, Nawaz Sharif praised Miftah’s efforts. The way he carried out his duties at a time when the country was facing an economic crisis.

The meeting agreed that the present government must end the economic disaster caused by the previous government. Therefore, Nawaz Sharif and the premier appointed Senator Ishaq Dar as Finance Minister. Ishaq Dar indicated that he will return to Pakistan with PM Shehbaz on Sunday and will take his oath as a Senator on Tuesday, adding that he will take his oath as Finance Minister on Wednesday.
