Islamabad Receives First Shipment of 146 Electric Busses

A major step towards improving public transport in Islamabad has been taken as the first batch of 146 electric buses has arrived in the city. These buses are part of a larger fleet of 160 electric buses planned to modernize and make public transport more environmentally friendly.

According to officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the remaining 14 buses are on their way from China and are expected to arrive soon. Meanwhile, work has started on the construction of a Zero-Point charging station for the electric buses. Although the project faced delays earlier due to the cancellation of previous tenders, the CDA has now reissued the tender at reduced costs to move the process forward.

In the first phase of this initiative, efforts will focus on setting up charging facilities and designated parking areas for the new buses along the proposed routes. This project is expected to provide a more sustainable and efficient transport option for residents of Islamabad while reducing environmental pollution in the city.
