Islamabad Traffic Police Office Declared Illegal, CDA Confirm

Questions have been raised regarding the land-use status of the Islamabad Traffic Police office located on Murree Road, as reports suggest the facility is operating on land without the required approvals.

According to available records, authorities issued notices nearly two decades ago asking the office to vacate the site. To facilitate relocation, an alternative 4.20-acre plot was reportedly allocated in Sector H-11/2 for the traffic police department.

Officials stated that permission to use the current location was withdrawn in 2008. Later, another land allotment was made in 2016 to support the relocation process. Despite these arrangements, the office reportedly continues to operate from its existing site.

The matter has once again come under discussion as questions emerge about compliance with land-use regulations and administrative procedures. According to officials, any continued use of the current location would require formal approval for a change in land use from the federal government.

Urban planning experts note that land-use regulations are important for maintaining organized development and ensuring that public land is used according to approved planning frameworks. Any exceptions generally require legal approvals and formal documentation.

The issue remains under review by relevant authorities, who are examining the status of the site and the administrative decisions made over the years. Officials have not yet announced any final decision regarding relocation or future use of the land.

The case highlights broader concerns related to land management, regulatory compliance, and implementation of planning decisions within the capital city. It also raises questions about why relocation plans discussed over several years were not fully implemented.

For now, the matter remains unresolved and is being reviewed at the federal level. Further decisions are expected after authorities complete their assessment and determine the appropriate course of action regarding the site’s future status.
