Islamabad’s Lotus Lake Now Open for Families

As a tourist spot in Shakarparian, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has restored the once-famous Lotus Lake.

Earlier this week, CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed and other officials inaugurated Shakarparian’s Family Park, and the lake is now open to visitors.

The CDA revealed this news in a press release announcing that a family park had been built by the Authority for the first time since 2009. It added that it would only allow families into the park.

When building the park and the lake, the CDA considered and preserved the natural beauty of the surroundings.

“The park has been designed without disrupting the site’s terrain. To make sitting places in the park, stones and wood were used. The CDA has planted saplings and grass to preserve the natural beauty of the park,” the press release added.

The presser suggested that Family Park and Lotus Lake will provide tourists with the best tourism facilities.

The artificial lake, built in 1970, was closed to the public during the construction of the cultural complex in 2006. Nevertheless, on public demand, the CDA has now reconstructed it.
