Japan’s Kochi University of Technology (KUT) has opened applications for its Special Scholarship Program (SSP) 2027, offering fully funded PhD opportunities to outstanding international students. The scholarship aims to attract talented researchers from around the world by providing financial support and access to world-class research facilities.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a comprehensive funding package that includes:
- Full tuition fee waiver for the entire three-year PhD program
- Exemption from the entrance examination and enrollment fees
- A monthly stipend of 150,000 Japanese Yen to cover living expenses
- A one-time 150,000 Japanese Yen allowance to help with travel and initial settlement costs for eligible international students
- University-arranged accommodation, subject to availability

Eligibility Requirements

- Hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification
- Be 35 years of age or younger

- Meet the university’s English language requirements
- Secure approval from a prospective KUT supervisor before submitting a full application
Application Process
Interested candidates must first submit an online pre-application. Applicants can choose up to two preferred supervisors from KUT’s list of eligible faculty members. Those who receive approval from a supervisor will then be invited to submit the complete application along with the required documents.
Deadline
Applications for the KUT Special Scholarship Program 2027 must be submitted by October 16, 2026.
