Karachi Safe City Project to Be Launched Within Two Months: Minister

In accordance with the provincial government’s directives, Sindh’s Minister for Information, Science, and Technology, Nawab Muhammad Taimur Talpur has announced that Karachi’s Safe City will be officially launched within the next few months.

He made the remarks during a scheduled session of the Sindh Assembly, following a final review meeting held by the Safe City Authority (SCA) under the leadership of its Vice-Chairman.

“Safe City cameras will be installed at Karachi Railway Station and District South in the first phase,” Minister Talpur said, adding that the cameras will also be installed in other parts of Sindh in the second and third phases.

The project involves the construction of CCTV cameras and comprehensive command and control centres in various parts of Karachi in terms of infrastructural developments. A standard facial and vehicle recognition system with biometric software is also being developed and is expected to be operational within the timeframe described.

Karachi will be positioned to become one of the world’s “safer cities” with the creation of the Safe City Project. Furthermore, the SCA anticipates that the project will be completed in three years.
