Karachi recently hosted its inaugural World Athletics-approved marathon, drawing an impressive participation of over 1,000 athletes across various categories.
Aamir Sohail claimed the spotlight by clinching victory in the challenging 42.2-kilometer full marathon, completing the race in a remarkable 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 9 seconds. In the women’s full marathon, Mahnoor showcased exceptional skills, leading the pack with remarkable physical prowess.
The 21.1-kilometer half-marathon saw Hafiz-ul-Barkat emerge victorious, completing the race in an impressive 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 12 seconds. The event, open to participants of all ages, witnessed enthusiastic involvement from women and children, emphasizing the inclusive nature of the sports spectacle.
Cash awards, ranging from 500,000 to 10,000 rupees, were announced for the deserving winners, further adding to the excitement surrounding this successful marathon event. The Karachi International Marathon not only underscored the city’s dedication to sports but also showcased the distinctive character of its citizens.
