A new branch of the Peshawar campus of Khyber Medical University (KMU) is intended to be opened in Kabul, which is known to be the capital city of Afghanistan. As per Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Vice Chancellor of KMU, responding to the Afghan government’s deal to initiate a branch campus in Kabul in the meantime of his most current visit to Afghanistan, The KMU delegation was being conducted by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia ul Haq and included Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Lal Muhammad Khattak, who is a famous surgeon; Dr. Mushtaq; Dr. Waqar; and Deputy Director of Media & Protocol Alamgir Afridi.
It is worth noticing that the committee of KMU participated in an international seminar recently with the theme of neighbouring nations’ contributions to peace in Afghanistan, which was being conducted at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul and was being promoted by the Center for Strategic and Regional Studies Kabul and the Institute of Regional Studies Peshawar. Â
Including the discussions, Dr. Qalandar Ibad, Minister of Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan; Hafiz Muhammad Haseeb, Deputy Minister of Higher Education; Dr. Fazlur Rehman Rahmani, Vice Chancellor of Kabul Medical University; and Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan in Kabul; the KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq were present at the seminar as well, and conducted the programme of health work.
An interest was being shown by the leading authorities of Afghanistan in the preference of the construction of a KMU campus in Kabul, while the meetings were being conducted during these sessions.
The Afghanistan government presented the buildings, and KMU will be offering the assistance for the teaching and administrative departments.
The campus will be constructed as per the Higher Education Commission of Islamabad’s offshore campus establishment policy, rules and regulations. Â Â
