KP Govt Announces Free Solar Panels for KP Citizens

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced a new initiative to provide free solar panels to residents of the province. This program is part of a broader plan to convert all official buildings to solar power in its first phase, aiming to promote sustainable energy use and reduce electricity costs.

Gandapur also highlighted the financial benefits of the initiative, including potential tax incentives for the public. Additionally, he proposed a 20% reduction in fuel allowances for the elite as part of the government’s efforts to cut costs and promote fairness.

During his announcement, Gandapur criticized the federal government for withholding Rs 100 billion intended for the development of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). He warned that if the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are not respected and the funds are not released, there could be protests.

Gandapur noted that other provinces, like Punjab and Sindh, have also launched similar solar power initiatives. In Sindh, affordable solar systems are available for Rs 7,000, while Punjab offers 1kV solar systems to households with low electricity consumption. He emphasized that these programs are beneficial for reducing energy costs and promoting renewable energy use across the country.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s solar panel initiative would greatly benefit residents, providing them with a reliable and cost-effective energy source. He encouraged citizens to take advantage of the program and assured them of the government’s commitment to supporting sustainable energy solutions.
