Moazzam Jah Ansari, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), has recently ordered the provincial police department to stop participating in WhatsApp groups, otherwise they will face disciplinary action.
Police officers have also been warned against using WhatsApp to discuss critical operational information and racist comments, which is considered “unacceptable.”
The security forces had initiated a raid to arrest the fugitives after receiving a tip. However, two officers were murdered in the ensuing crossfire namely, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Riyaz Khan and Constable Jaffer.
The news came just one day after two police officers were killed in a combing operation in Hayatabad. It is also believed that information about the planned operation was leaked ahead of time via a WhatsApp group and then passed on to the criminals.
