Kuwait Reopens Visa Access for Pakistanis

Kuwait has resumed issuing a wide range of visas to Pakistani citizens, marking a positive shift in diplomatic and labor relations between the two countries. This step, announced by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, opens new avenues for employment, tourism, and family reunification.

Pakistani nationals can now apply for work, family visit, dependent, tourist, and business visas. The decision comes as Kuwait looks to address its labor shortages and strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in sectors like healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

As part of this renewed collaboration, Pakistan is set to send 1,200 nurses to Kuwait to support its expanding healthcare needs. While the first batch of 125 nurses faced delays due to accommodation issues, officials are working swiftly to resolve these hurdles, and their arrival is expected soon.

The two nations are also finalizing a new labor agreement that will further streamline worker mobility and ensure better coordination. Though not yet signed, some aspects of the agreement are already being implemented.

Currently, more than 93,000 Pakistanis live and work in Kuwait, contributing significantly to the local economy. The Pakistani community is active in various fields, including engineering, education, and healthcare.

Dr. Iqbal emphasized the long-standing friendship between the two countries, rooted in mutual support and shared history. He also highlighted Pakistan’s potential in agriculture, food security, housing, and infrastructure sectors that align with Kuwait’s Vision 2035.

The reopening of visa access is seen as a major step toward deeper cooperation and people-to-people connection. It also signals Kuwait’s confidence in Pakistan as a valuable partner in development.
