Lahore experienced extremely hot weather on the third day of Eid, with temperatures reaching 43°C. However, it felt even hotter up to 47°C due to high humidity and dry conditions, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
This intense heatwave is expected to continue, with no major relief in sight for the next 24 hours. Light winds at 11 km/h have done little to cool things down.
Health experts have issued strong warnings to the public. They advise people to stay indoors between 12 PM and 4 PM when the sun is at its strongest. It’s important to drink plenty of water, wear light and breathable clothes, and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary.
“If you must go outside, make sure to cover your head, wear sunglasses, and stay in the shade as much as you can,” doctors recommended. They also warn people to be alert for symptoms of heatstroke and dehydration, which can become serious if not treated in time.
Authorities are calling this a weather emergency and are stressing the need for extra care. The hot and dry weather can cause severe health issues, especially for children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing conditions.
Residents are urged to follow safety guidelines, keep their homes cool, and check on neighbors, especially those who may not have access to air conditioning or clean drinking water.
