The Engineering Development Board (EDB) has been ordered by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to ensure that all locally built automobiles have safety airbags installed.
According to the court, local automakers must now put airbags in all vehicles. The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has indicated that it is willing to carry out the court decision. According to Ali Asghar Jamali, chairman of PAMA, the court ordered the government to pass regulations governing the installation of airbags in automobiles.
“At the moment, there is no such law in Pakistan.” “Almost all domestically produced automobiles have airbags,” he continued, “but those priced at less than Rs 1.5 million do not.”
