Lahore Qalandars recently ascended to second place in the points rankings after a thrilling victory over Islamabad, in the PSL 7sv12th match. However, Islamabad has dropped to third place in the tournament after losing their second match.
Lahore got out to a flying start, utilizing the powerplay to completely destroy Islamabad United’s bowling unit. They lost their way in the middle of the innings as Islamabad’s captain, Shadab Khan took four wickets to end Lahore’s innings. They made a strong recovery in the final innings to finish with a challenging total of 174/9.
However, Islamabad’s batsmen were not at their best early in the tournament, as they lost Paul Stirling and Alex Hales for cheap. Colin Munro and Shadab Khan contributed to the ship’s stability by scoring outstanding half-centuries that put them in command.
Further, Lahore’s world-class bowling lineup did not go down without a fight, taking the wickets of both set players back-to-back. Zaman Khan, a young fast bowler, bowled a brilliant final over, defending 12 runs to give Lahore an 8-run win.
Zaman was named player of the match for his superb effort with the ball. He had figures of 1/29 in four overs, including a brilliant last over.
