Lahore-Matiari Transmission Line Soon to be ready

Pakistan’s mega and first High Voltage Direct Current- HVDC project, The Lahore-Matiari transmission line is soon expected will be ready in few month as by April.

As per the official sources, this project was launched under the CPEC- China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that would cost around $1.68 billion and it is the first HVDC project in Pakistan; however, second in the World. Moreover, they said that this project would succor to evacuate about 4,000MW power from the plants in the south as well as to urban centers in Punjab province.

According to a report, the official work for this project was launched in the month of December and in 2018 that was across the two provinces, Sindh and Punjab. This transmission line was initially divided into the eight lots, crossing farmland, deserts, military area, rivers, national park, railways, wildlife reserves gas pipelines, highways & several other 500kV, or 220kV, or even 132kV transmission lines were in between.

As for other investment regarding the transmission lines it was said that no investment was made initially on the up-gradation for this transmission lines. However, in the last past 2 years the government has typically invested around RS 49 billion on the upgradation of this transmission lines.

Due to this investment by the government the transmission lines could also transmit around 23000 MW for the first time in the summer. Similarly, it is said that the investment was being carried out for up-gradation of over 220 kV and the 132 kV of transmission lines. They also added that the Anti-fog insulators installation on the transmission system has done during past two years.
