Law Enforcement Agencies Raid One of Islamabad’s Most Expensive Residential Buildings

A dramatic late-night operation took place at One Constitution Avenue, one of the most luxurious high-rise residential buildings in Islamabad. Law enforcement agencies entered the complex in the Red Zone and asked residents to vacate their apartments immediately.

The action came right after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) upheld the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) decision to cancel the project’s land lease. The court ruling was announced on Thursday, May 1, 2026. The lease was cancelled due to a massive multibillion-rupee payment default by the developer, M/s BNP (Private) Limited.

According to residents, police and other officials went door-to-door late at night, around 1 AM. They gave occupants only a few hours to leave. Many families said they received short notice, and some claimed officers entered apartments without showing a proper court order or clear explanation.

The building was originally planned as a Grand Hyatt hotel on a large plot along Constitution Avenue. Over the years, the project faced serious legal disputes. The CDA first cancelled the lease in 2016 due to violations and non-payment.

Courts have gone back and forth on the case for nearly a decade. The developer was supposed to pay around Rs17.5 billion in instalments, but large amounts remained unpaid.

This incident has raised questions about the rights of buyers and renters who invested in the expensive apartments. The case highlights long-standing issues of compliance, payments, and accountability in big real estate projects in the capital.
