Lotus Reveals First-Ever 4-Door Electric Car that goes from 0-100 Km/hr in 2.8 Seconds

Lotus Cars recently revealed its latest all-electric vehicle, the Emeya, during an event in New York City. This hyper GT is notable as it’s Lotus’ second electric vehicle (BEV) and their very first 4-door hyper-GT. The Emeya comes with impressive features, including the ability to accelerate from 0-100km/h in under 2.8 seconds.

Lotus Cars, a British automaker, is now owned by Geely, which helps with BEV production in China at a newly constructed $1.2 billion factory. In 2021, Lotus made a significant announcement that it would completely transition to electric vehicles. They revealed a plan to introduce a new model each year until 2026.

This transition began with the Eletre, an E-segment SUV with the codename Type 132, which has been showcased at major auto events worldwide. The Emeya represents the next step in Lotus’ electric vehicle lineup, with more BEV models in the pipeline.

These include a four-door coupe (Type 133) in 2023, a D-segment SUV (Type 134) in 2025, and an all-new electric sports car (Type 135) in 2026. The Emeya’s introduction as a 4-door hyper-GT signifies a unique departure from Lotus’ traditional sports car offerings.
