Man Arrested After Faking Heart Attack in 20 Restaurants to Avoid Paying Bill

A 50-year-old man from Lithuania, who locals call the “gastrojeta,” has been arrested in Spain for using a unique method to avoid paying for meals in restaurants. He allegedly pretended to have heart attacks to escape paying the bill. This man tried this trick about 20 times in the past year.

In his most recent incident, he ate at a restaurant called El Buen Comer and ordered seafood paella and two whiskeys, totaling about $36.80. When he tried to leave without paying, the restaurant staff confronted him.

He then claimed he needed to get money from his hotel room, but when they didn’t allow him to leave without paying, he pretended to have a heart attack.

Instead of calling an ambulance, the restaurant staff called the police, and he was arrested because he had been known to local authorities for similar actions.

Since he had been caught multiple times using the same trick, his picture was shared among various restaurants in the area to prevent further scams. He was arrested again, but the details of his prison sentence or release status are unclear.
