Fast-rising youngster, Omar Khalid made history when he very easily won Pakistan’s 60th National Amateur Golf Championship to become the youngest player ever to hold the most respected title in the world.
Omar, a Karachi student at O Levels, played a dream final round of two-under-par 70 to capture the coveted National Amateur Crown at the Karachi Golf Club by a whopping five-shot margin.
He is by far the youngest player to win Pakistan’s national championship. Rawalpindi’s Ralfay Raja emerged as the runner-up.
In the senior category, Col Rustam Ali won the award, while the runner-up was Karachi’s Azhar Abbas.
Lahore’s Rimsha Ijaz won the ladies title while her sister Parkha Ijaz was the runner-up.
The main competition on the final day was between the top four contestants for the amateurs’ title – Omar Khalid, Ralfay Raja, Umer Khokhar and Salman Khan.
