MG Motors to Launch Two More Cars in Pakistan

The launch of the MG HS in Pakistan was welcomed with enthusiasm and all the units of the SUV were reportedly booked. The automaker is likely to offer more exciting products in the Pakistani market following this success.

Talking to a media outlet, Javed Afridi, owner of JW Park Motors and MG Pakistan, revealed that the company plans to add two more cars to its range in Pakistan, namely the RX8 mid-size SUV and the Pickup Truck Extender crew-cabin.

Last week while on a UAE trip, Afridi posted on his social media a video and photographs of two new MG cars, the MG 6 Sedan and the MG RX8 SUV.

The MG RX8 is a 7-seater mid-size family SUV competing in the foreign market with the Kia Sorento, the Toyota Fortuner, the Hyundai Santa Fe, and the Mazda CX-9 SUV.

It is a four-wheel-drive decked-out SUV that is available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine in most markets that produces 224 hp and 360 Nm of torque and is connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Extender is the midsize sports utility pickup truck from MG that allegedly shares with the MG Gloster SUV almost 75 percent of its underpinnings. It is likely to go up against the Toyota Hilux, the Isuzu D-Max, and the upcoming Volkswagen Amarok in Pakistan.

On the international market, it is most widely available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 161 hp and 375 Nm of torque. Two drivetrains are available for the truck: one is a 6-speed manual that only transfers power to the rear wheels, and the other is a 6-speed automatic all-wheel drive. However, it’s still a mystery which of these two would make it to the Pakistani market.

While MG Pakistan had suggested that the Gloster SUV and the ZS compact all-electric SUV were being launched, neither of them had been heard of for a long time. However, the launch of all of these cars could take place soon with the imminent expiry of the Automotive Development Policy (ADP) 2016-21.
