Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, Andrew Puttick Bid Farewell to Pakistan Cricket Team

In the aftermath of the disappointing performance in the 2023 World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a significant reshuffle in leadership roles at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. The trio of Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick, who had been entrusted with crucial responsibilities at the NCA, chose to submit their resignations as a collective response to the subpar outcomes.

Mickey Arthur, who had assumed the position of Director of the Pakistan men’s cricket team in April 2023, played a pivotal role in overseeing the team’s strategic direction. Meanwhile, Grant Bradburn had taken on the responsibility of head coach for the Pakistan national men’s side a year earlier. Their roles were central to shaping the team’s performance, and the disappointing World Cup campaign prompted a reevaluation of the coaching staff.

Andrew Puttick, a former South African cricketer, had been contributing as Pakistan’s batting coach since April 2023. The batting coach is instrumental in honing the skills of the team’s batsmen, and his resignation marked another departure from the coaching setup.

The resignations, confirmed by the PCB, were characterized as mutual decisions agreed upon by all parties involved. The PCB conveyed its best wishes to Arthur, Bradburn, and Puttick for their future endeavors, acknowledging their contributions to Pakistani cricket. The departure of key coaching figures hinted at a broader strategy by the PCB to address the team’s performance concerns and usher in a new phase of leadership for the national cricket program.

As the trio steps down from their respective positions by the end of January 2024, the cricketing community awaits the PCB’s next moves in appointing new leadership and fostering a renewed sense of direction for Pakistan’s cricketing future.
